There are 2 Counsellor posts (02 Nos.): one for a male candidate and one for a female candidate. The work is at Central University of Tamil Nadu, Thiruvarur. Essential Qualification You need one of the qualifications (a) to (d). Candidates with (b), (c) or (d) also need the experience in (e). Everyone needs the registration in (f). - (a) Two-year M.Phil. in Clinical Psychology / Psy.D. in Clinical Psychology from a University/Institution recognised by the Rehabilitation Council of India (RCI). OR - (b) Professional Diploma in Clinical Psychology from a University/Institution recognised by the Rehabilitation Council of India (RCI). OR - (c) Ph.D. in Counselling Psychology / Clinical Psychology / Psychology / Applied Psychology with a Regular Postgraduate degree in Psychology / Counselling Psychology / Clinical Psychology / Applied Psychology from a recognised university. OR - (d) Regular Postgraduate qualification in Psychology / Counselling Psychology / Clinical Psychology / Applied Psychology from a recognised university, with a regular Postgraduate Diploma in Counselling Psychology / Guidance and Counselling. AND - (e) For qualifications (b) to (d): at least one year of relevant experience in counselling after completing the qualifying degree, preferably in a Higher Educational Institution. AND - (f) Valid registration with RCI (Rehabilitation Council of India) or NCAHP (National Commission for Allied and Healthcare Professions) is mandatory. Desirable Qualifications - Proficiency in conducting both individual and group counselling sessions using evidence-based therapeutic approaches. - Capability to manage psychiatric emergencies and provide effective crisis intervention. - Competence in developing psycho-educational content aimed at promoting student mental health and well-being. - Working knowledge of computers, including MS Office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel). - Strong verbal and written communication skills in English and Tamil, with effective interpersonal abilities. - Prior clinical or counselling experience in a university/college or higher educational setting will be considered an added advantage. - Insight into the unique psychological challenges faced by students in competitive academic environments. - Demonstrated empathy, sensitivity to diversity, and a non-judgmental counselling approach. - Familiarity with a range of counselling techniques, therapeutic modalities and psychological assessment tools.
