⚖️

Depending on your region and context, we rely on one or more of these legal bases to process your personal data:

In Short
We always have a lawful reason before using your data. For optional things like marketing, we ask for your consent first — and you can withdraw it anytime, no questions asked.
🍪

We use cookies and similar technologies to keep the platform working and to understand how it's being used. You can manage preferences via our Cookie Settings banner.

💡
Your browser or device also offers controls to block or delete cookies independently of our settings. You can reset advertising IDs in your device's privacy settings.
In Short
Essential cookies cannot be turned off — the site won't work without them. Analytics, functional, and ad cookies are optional — you choose via our Cookie Settings.
🤝
🚫
We do not sell your personal data. If we ever run interest-based advertising, it will be based on your consent or opt-out choices as required by applicable law.
🖥️
Service Providers & Processors
Hosting, CDNs, email delivery, analytics, payment processing, and customer support — all under data protection contracts that limit use to our instructions only.
🔄
Business Transfers
In the event of a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, your data may transfer to the successor entity — subject to this same Privacy Policy.
⚖️
Legal & Safety
To comply with court orders, legal obligations, enforce our Terms, protect users' rights, or prevent fraud and abuse.
🔗
With Your Direction or Consent
When you link a third-party account (e.g., Google sign-in) or submit a public testimonial — only what you choose to share.
In Short
We never sell your data. We share it only with vendors who help us run the platform (under strict contracts), when legally required, or when you explicitly direct us to.
🗓️

We keep your personal data only as long as necessary for the purposes described in this policy — including any legal, accounting, or reporting requirements that apply to us.

In Short
We delete your data when we no longer need it. Transaction records stay longer because Indian tax law requires it. Analytics data is anonymised, not tied to you.
🔒

We use administrative, technical, and organisational security measures appropriate to the sensitivity of the data we process. These include:

🔐
Encryption in Transit
All data exchanged between your device and our servers travels over TLS (HTTPS). No plaintext transmission.
💾
Encryption at Rest
Sensitive data (passwords, tokens) is encrypted at rest. Passwords are stored as salted hashes — we cannot read your password.
🛂
Access Controls & Logging
Internal staff access to personal data is role-restricted and fully logged. Only those who need access to do their job have it.
⚠️
No system is 100% secure. Use a strong, unique password for your account and enable two-factor authentication if available. If you suspect unauthorised access, contact us immediately.
In Short
We use industry-standard security: TLS encryption, hashed passwords, access controls. We can't guarantee perfect security, but we take it seriously. Use a strong password on your end.
🙋

Subject to identity verification and applicable law, you have the following rights over your personal data:

👁️
Access
Request a copy of the personal data we hold about you.
✏️
Correction
Ask us to correct inaccurate or incomplete data on your account.
🗑️
Deletion (Erasure)
Request deletion of your data in certain circumstances — including account closure.
⏸️
Restriction & Objection
Object to or restrict certain processing, including direct marketing.
📤
Portability
Receive your data in a machine-readable format, where technically feasible.
↩️
Consent Withdrawal
Withdraw consent at any time for processing based on consent — with immediate effect.

🌐

We may process or store data in countries other than India — for example, when using cloud hosting services or CDNs with servers outside India. Where required by applicable law, we implement safeguards such as:

📋
Standard Contractual Clauses
Data processing agreements that require the recipient to apply equivalent privacy protections.
Adequacy Certifications
Where applicable, we use certified frameworks that ensure comparable protection to Indian data law standards.
In Short
Some of our infrastructure (like cloud servers) may be outside India. When that happens, we require the same privacy protections to apply via formal contractual safeguards.
👧

Our Services are not directed at children below the applicable digital consent age under Indian law. We do not knowingly collect or process personal data from such children.

If you believe a child has created an account or provided their data on our platform, please contact us at legal@theaspirantnews.com and we will promptly delete the data and close the account.

In Short
This platform is for adult UPSC aspirants. If a child has signed up, email us and we'll remove their account and data immediately.
🔄

We may update this Privacy Policy to reflect changes in our products, legal requirements, or data practices. When we make material changes, we will:

📅
Update the “Last Updated” Date
Visible at the top of this page, so you always know when the policy was last revised.
📢
Provide Additional Notice for Material Changes
Via an in-app banner, email notification, or both — depending on the significance of the change.
ℹ️
If there is any conflict between this Policy and a product-specific privacy notice, the product-specific notice prevails for that product feature.
In Short
We'll tell you when we make meaningful changes — via email or an in-app notice. Check the “Last Updated” date at the top to see when this was last revised.

Frequently Asked Questions
Q Do you sell my personal data?
No — never. We do not sell, rent, or broker personal data to advertisers or any third party. We use service providers who process data strictly on our behalf, under contracts that prohibit independent use of your data.
Q How do I unsubscribe from marketing emails?
Every marketing email we send includes a one-click Unsubscribe link at the bottom. You can also update your notification preferences in Account → Settings at any time. Note: transactional emails (receipts, OTPs, security alerts) will still be sent as they are necessary to the service.
Q How do I delete my account and all my data?
Email legal@theaspirantnews.com from your registered email address, or use the in-app account deletion option (Settings → Delete Account). We will confirm once processed — typically within 30 days. Note: billing records are retained as required by Indian tax law even after account deletion.
Q Which cookies are essential and cannot be turned off?
Authentication and session cookies (which keep you logged in), basic security cookies (CSRF protection), and performance cookies required for the site to load correctly. These cannot be disabled — without them the platform will not function. All other cookies (analytics, functional, advertising) are optional.
Q Can I see what data you hold about me?
Yes — you have a right of access. Email legal@theaspirantnews.com with your registered email and we will provide a summary of the personal data we hold about you within 30 days. We may ask for identity verification to protect your account security.
