Important Dates

How to Apply

1. Download the application form (Proforma for the Post of Senior Resident) from the IGIMS website, www.igims.org.
2. Fill in the form: advertisement number, post and department, name with NMC/State Medical Council registration number, father's name, date of birth with age on the cut-off date, category, addresses, contact number, educational qualifications starting from MBBS, experience after MD/DNB, publications and presentations, employment status, Demand Draft details and the list of enclosures.
3. Affix a recent photograph and sign the declaration.
4. Get a Demand Draft for the fee for your category, payable to The Director, IGIMS, Patna.
5. Bring the form, the Demand Draft, the originals and one set of self-attested copies to the H.O.D. Chamber, PMR Dept, IGIMS, Patna-14 on 23 November 2026, reporting between 09:00 AM and 10:30 AM.

Fill in your name, age, gender, caste, address, educational qualification and the other fields correctly. Once the form is submitted, it cannot be changed.

What to Bring

Bring the original and one set of self-attested copies of each of these:

• Recent passport-size photograph: face clearly visible, in colour, against a light-coloured, preferably white, background. Caps, hats and dark glasses are not acceptable. Religious headwear is allowed but must not cover the face.
• Demand Draft in original (if applicable)
• Aadhar Card
• Date of Birth/SSC/HSSC pass certificate (mentioning date of birth)
• MBBS degree certificates
• Internship completion certificates
• MS/DNB degree/provisional degree certificates
• Attempt certificate of MBBS and PG degree
• UG & PG NMC/State registration certificates
• Category/PwBD certificate (if a seat is claimed in a reserved category)
• Experience certificate, if any
• NOC from present employer (for those working in a Govt./Pvt. organisation)
• Any other relevant documents (research work, publications, etc.)

The application form also asks for the following:

• SC/ST candidates: Domicile and Caste Certificates issued by the Circle Officer of their district/circle.
• EBC (MBC) and BC candidates: Domicile and Caste Certificates issued by the Circle Officer, with exemption of creamy layer.
• EWS candidates: Domicile and EWS Certificates issued by the Circle Officer.
• Reprints of publications and copies of presentation certificates.

Candidates who are not employed must give a written statement that they are neither employed in any organisation nor doing any course anywhere.

What Happens on the Day

Reporting and document verification run from 9:00 AM to 10:30 AM on 23 November 2026. Reporting after 10:30 AM will not be accepted. The interview begins at 11:00 AM. The Selection Committee of the Institute will select the candidate(s) based on bio-data and the interview. Candidates must produce all original certificates in proof of the details in their application at the time of the interview. The result will be declared on the IGIMS Patna website, on a date to be notified later.

Marking Scheme (100 Marks)

Poster Presentation | 10 Marks (2 marks each for a maximum of 10 marks)

Academic Award | 10 Marks (2 marks each for a maximum of 10)

Specialized training | 10 Marks (3 months: 2 Marks; 3 to 6 months: 5 Marks; more than 6 months: 10 Marks)

Project (Extra/intramural) | 10 Marks

Subject Knowledge | 20 Marks

Pay and Terms of Appointment

The pay is as per Institute rule: Rs. 67700/- plus NPA and the usual allowances admissible for a Senior Resident in the Institute. Other allowances on top of pay and NPA are admissible as per rule. Staying on campus is compulsory if accommodation is provided. If accommodation is not provided, HRA is admissible as per rule.

The appointment is on an ad-hoc basis for a period of 89 days, until the full-time (3 years tenure) recruitment of Senior Residents is completed through walk-in interview. The post is non-practising. Private practice of any kind, direct or indirect, including laboratory practice, is strictly prohibited and will lead to termination. Selected candidates must submit a legal bond. Under the bond, a candidate who quits or resigns from the Senior Residency programme midway deposits an amount equal to one month's emoluments for every year of the programme not completed.

Important Instructions

• Candidates employed in a Government/Semi-Government department or with any other employer must submit a No Objection Certificate from the employer at the time of the interview/document verification. Otherwise they will not be considered for the interview.
• Canvassing in any form will lead to disqualification.
• No TA/DA is admissible for attending the interview or for joining the post if selected.
• The Director of the Institute reserves the right to reject or accept any or all applications without giving any reason, and to cancel the advertisement.
• Selection by the Selection Committee does not give a right of appointment. The Institute reserves the right of appointment of the candidates recommended by the Selection Committee.
