Justice M. Nagaprasanna of the Karnataka High Court ordered the registrars of the High Court, Bengaluru City Civil Court, the state police, Google and Indian Kanoon to mask the acquitted woman's name from digital records, holding that an acquittal is a "solemn judicial declaration" of innocence that cannot be allowed to become a mere paper formality with no real-world consequence for the person it protects.
