MNRE Secretary Santosh Kumar Sarangi confirmed at a CII energy conference that a standalone polysilicon PLI scheme is being prepared, alongside plans to more than triple solar cell capacity to 100 GW within a year and build ingot-wafer capacity to 80 GW by June 2028 - a tacit admission that the existing combined PLI scheme has failed to move the upstream segment at all.
