Before the Inquiry Ends: Move the Power, Not the Verdict, When the Accused Heads the Service
On 1 November 2026, the Odisha government transferred Mr Nath, two days after a case was registered on 30 October under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita. The notification gave no reason, though senior officers linked the move to the case. A senior home department official said the government is awaiting the probe report. The selection of Odisha's next DGP is pending before the Supreme Court.
